THE END-Project #1: Damned and Desolate

End Post-9 Mar 2020-Damned and Dangerous Quartet, Book One-
Damned and Desolate
On 9 Mar 2020, Skye wrote “THE END” on the rewrite of Damned and Desolate, the first in a four-book series called the Damned and Dangerous Quartet.

I don’t know about you guys, but I celebrate every time I finish a draft and a rewrite. Edits… Not so much. That being said, this is my “The End” post for a novel I had to completely rewrite after some betas told me that the dual POV I was trying to do just wasn’t working for them.

Ever had to redo something because it just wasn’t working? I’m having to do it for four books. Yes. Four.

I write pretty fast, but I edit slow, and I make a lot of changes as I write. I want to rapid release my series, so that meant writing all four books before even thinking of publishing, and it’s a good thing I did because my betas told me what I wanted to do wasn’t working. So I’ve gone back to the drawing board and just finished the first of four novels I plan to release starting in June.

I’m pretty happy with the new version though, and I can’t wait to release this to the world. I’ve been working on this series off and on for over a year now. By the time the last book is published, I’ll have been working on it a full two years.

I’ve learned a lot in those two years, and hopefully the next series doesn’t take that long to release. *crosses fingers* Well, the one series will, but that’s another story for another time.

For the moment, I’m going to enjoy my victory with this book and jumping right in with the next, which I already have set up and ready to go.

Drink of choice is Pepsi because I’m a lightweight and don’t drink that often. There’s an IBC root beer in a glass bottle (what I lovingly refer to as my beer since I don’t drink often) calling my name, but it’s not cold, so that’s going to have to wait.

Sorry for the poor lighting in the photo. The image was taken at o’dark-thirty at night (11:30 PM) Sunday evening when I finished and the group was closed and there was only one light on in the room… On the opposite side of the room of course, so it looks darker than it really is.

For those who are finding out bad news about having to rewrite, never despair. It might turn out to be the best thing that’s ever happened to your novel. I’ve had to do it often enough for various reasons to know this to be true. Every time I’ve had to rewrite, my prose has gotten stronger and my storytelling better. Yours will too.

Now, back to writing! I’ve got novels to get ready for publication!

Damned and Desolate comes out 11 June 2020.
